Jim, new DJ bio

What is your favorite kind of music and what artists inspire you? Lol! Don’t get me started! I am a total music nerd. BTW, the difference between a music geek and a music nerd is that a music geek is someone who’s life revolves around music, whereas a music nerd is someone who’s life revolves around music, and they like it that way. There’s not much that I won’t listen to, but my favorite music is Rock and Pop music from the 1970s, the kind of music I play on Give Me Back My 70s. I also am crazy about Yacht Rock, Progressive Rock, Jazz Fusion, 60s and 70s era Soul, West Coast Soft Rock, and a lot of other odds and ends. I don’t really like Hip-Hop, and I don’t care for most of what passes for Country Music today, but Classic Country is something I love every bit as much as I love Rock ‘N Roll. As for artists that inspire me, there are many, but at the top of my list is the incomparable Steely Dan, followed closely by Genesis, 10CC, Alan Parsons, The Little River Band, The Electric Light Orchestra, Gino Vannelli, Boz Skaggs, Stevie Wonder, Waylon Jennings, and way too many more to list here.

Why did you want to be a DJ? My love affair with radio began when I was 3 years old. It was the early 1970s, when AM top 40 radio was magic. Even as a small boy, I was enraptured by it all, the jocks, the jingles, the reverb, the network news, and of course, the incredible music. I knew from that young age, this was what I wanted to do. It was, and still is, in my blood. I’ve been in radio, either full or part time, since I was 16 years of age, and though I’m not in it full time at this point, I can honestly say that it’s the only thing I’ve ever really *wanted* as a vocation. My current full time non-radio job is how I pay the bills, but radio is what I *do.*

What are your favorite foods? In no particular order, a good steak, open faced roast beef sandwiches, French fries (not Curley fries,) chicken and waffles with a side of bacon, pickled beats, rigatoni with Italian Sausage, Raspberry Sorbet, to name several.

Are there any foods you can’t stand? Yes, I can’t stand cheese. Most folks think I’m a few tortilla chips short of a full combo platter for that, but seriously, I have never liked cheese. I can tolerate it on a pizza, but I don’t do cheeseburgers, nachos, macaroni and cheese, or any of that stuff. You cheese lovers can have my portion.
