Meet the DJ – Jamar

Jamar

What is your favorite color and why?

Why did you decide to be a DJ?

What is the best thing about being a  DJ?

Name 5 of your favorite songs and say why they are at the top of your list.

What do you wish you could do before you die?

1, Blue. Love the song, Bluer than blue. Or as my brother Barney says, drawing on the words of a cat (a human cat) named Roosevelt, “Man’s had the blues since 2 million BC.” My eyes are blue too.

  1. I’ve been exposed to deejays all my life, always thought they were cool. Saw a movie in 1971 with the late Cleavon Little playing a blind deejay, Supersoul. And I knew a DJ in college Cowboy Bob, who worked his way up the radio foodchain from the college station, town (Statesboro, Ga.) to Jacksonville to Atlanta. We hung out a lot in college and I saw him in Jacksonville too. And some crazy Beach Baby, a courageous woman, gave me a shot. Lots to learn and learning from Oceanwavesradio’s the deejays.
  2. Putting together a playlist that has a certain tapestry to it. And knowing that music has a chance to touch someone’s soul in a way that the written word cannot.
  3. Top 5 songs (subject to change), 1. Honesty by Billy Joel, 2. His strength is Perfect by Steven Curtis Chapman, 3. Crying Time by Ray Charles, 4. Ain’t No Way by Aretha Franklin, 5. Fear Not my Child by Carmen.
  4. Enjoy a day without a selfish thought, a sin-free day where I experience the intimacy with the Almighty that we were created for. Yes, that’s glorification
